There are 137 parks gardens and green spaces in Cardiff, nearly all of these have been been made safe with  bark chippings or rubberised mats to provide soft landing areas.

The bigger Parks such as Bute Park, Victoria Park and Roath Park have the added attraction of the provision of facilities for refreshments. Roath Park with its lighthouse as a tribute to Scott has a superb boating lake and the park has an added advantage of a conservatory which has a fish pool and facilities for feeding as well as quizes and drawing sheets for Cardiff kids.

Just to the north of the University of Wake Hospital is Heath Park a really big open space with pitches for football and Rugby and a patch of woodland where bike ramps are often found !

Not far from here you can find a little gem of a model railway built and run by the Cardiff Model Engineering Society who are continually increasing their track.

This gives pleasure to both children and adults. It only operates on certain days so check the link to get their opening times.

Make sure you take your camera to remember the smile on the kid's faces!
